In 2012, CARA Projects opened the CARA Girls Rescue Centre (CGRC) in Kibiko, Nairobi, Kenya. Working in conjunction with the Kenyan Government’s Children’s Office, the centre caters for up to 40 girls. These are children who will have come to the attention of the Children’s Office as victims of neglect, abuse, female genital mutilation , incest or early marriage.
CGRC aims to provide a safe and loving home for the children during their stay as well as ensuring they have access to medical care ,counselling ,education , food shelter and clean water. We run volunteer programs to help with the funding of CGRC.
We also have a good relationship with our neighbours from the local Masai community. They always come to visit us at CARA during our annual volunteer trip in February.
